Why us, and not another good studio

Korea has hundreds of studios that shoot well. Very few have all three of these in one room.

The craft.

Advertising and music photography. Short films and features. Broadcast production. We came out of production and we still work like it.

Korea.

We live here. We know which town is which, what it is known for, and what it looks like in the third week of October.

How a foreigner reads Korea.

All three of us have worked in countries that were not ours. One of us is Filipino. We know what your couple has watched, and what they came here hoping to feel.

Take Andong. No Filipino tourist has heard of it. It is the home of the seonbi scholars and the place Mr. Sunshine was filmed. We shot Kristel Fulgar's film there.

A Manila team cannot choose Andong, because they do not know it exists. A Seoul studio can name it and still not know why it would land with a Filipino audience. Choosing it needs all three at once.

Where we shoot, and what it means

Your couple already has scenes in their head.

We know where those scenes were shot, what season they were shot in, and what they look like now. Small frame is the drama. Large frame is our work in the same place.

We also cover Jumunjin in Gangneung, where the Goblin breakwater and the BTS Spring Day bus stop are about ten minutes apart by car. Busan, Gyeongju and Jeonju are a day's drive.

Most coverage of Korea uses the same three postcards. We can put a couple somewhere your readers have not seen yet.

How we build a film

Every film starts as an analysis.

We take the couple's story apart before we decide anything. What the film is actually about is rarely the thing they say first. Once we know what it is, we choose the form that carries it.

Some films run on dialogue. Some are montage cut to music. Some are built in chapters with a treatment that reads like a script. The judgment about which form fits which couple is the part a professional is paid for, and the part a template cannot do.

What makes it repeatable

Craft at this level usually needs a large crew. Ours does not.

  • Photo and film are both primary. In this market film is an add-on to a photo package, or stills are an afterthought from a video team. We run both as lead work, same day, same light, graded together.
  • A producer runs the day. Most units this size have no producer. That is the role that holds a schedule when the light moves or the weather turns.
  • The same three people, every job. Networks assign whoever is free that week. Marketplaces send a different local crew in every city. You will know all three of our names before you book.
  • Three on set, not six. Fewer people to move, fewer permissions to chase.
