Streets to ourselves

Adila and her partner had one ask: to walk the streets of Seoul before autumn let go. So that is the whole film. Ordinary streets and alleys in the morning sun, fallen leaves everywhere, and the two of them free to run.
The film starts with a wave from a footbridge. Then a hot snack from a street stall, blown on until it cools, a café window full of poinsettias, alleys with scooters and painted walls. None of it was dressed for the camera.
Late November, and the ginkgo streets were already letting go. Whole alleys had gone yellow underfoot, so we kept the morning loose and let the two of them play: leaves thrown by the handful, a piggyback run, laughing down the alleys. The photographs and the film come from the same morning.
Shot on the day by our photographer, working right beside the film camera. Real photographs, not frames pulled from the video. Two crafts, one shoot, one team, and you keep both.
The Scene is our shortest film: one location, one stretch of the right light. For Adila that meant the streets themselves, in low morning sun at the end of the season, with room to run. The photographs were made the same morning, side by side with the film, and both are delivered together.
