We timed the shoot for full bloom and got a sunny morning in Anguk-dong. Joyce and Gideon came in matching pink, and we kept that pink against the blossoms in almost every setup, down to the lane where they walk in from opposite ends and meet in the middle. At the end Gideon goes to one knee, and their young daughter, in the same pink, walks in to join them.
The film opens close, foreheads together under a cherry tree with petals coming down, before you see any street at all. Then the morning runs in two looks that we intercut: matching pink for the blossoms, black blazers for the brick alleys and hanok walls. We graded the blazer chapter a touch cooler, so the pinks feel warmer each time they come back. Small shots hold the walk together, white sneakers in step, hands clasped behind her back. And when they passed the WE ARE YOUNG mural, two painted faces kissing, we put them in front of it and let them answer it with a kiss of their own.

The blossom lane was a planned setup: Joyce and Gideon start at opposite ends and walk in until they meet under the canopy, then swing hands the rest of the way through. Near the end the film dips to black twice. The first dip comes back on the garden path between the hedges, where Gideon goes to one knee, and we held the frame and let it play, the ring, her hands going to his. After the second dip their young daughter walks in, wearing the same pink. The three of them head down the blossom path hand in hand while the one caption in the film fades in over them.
Shot on the day by our photographer, working right beside the film camera. Real photographs, not frames pulled from the video. Two crafts, one shoot, one team, and you keep both.

The Scene pairs the film with a full set of finished photographs from the same shoot. Everything on this page comes out of that one sunny morning: the bakery mirror, the mural kiss, the blossom lane, the proposal on the garden path. The photographs are finished in the same warm spring look as the film. You keep both.
