The Film is the most we do. It is a full day of filming, but the shoot is where the work shows, not where it starts. The real beginning is a long conversation, weeks earlier, that we record and keep.
Everything after that comes out of that conversation. We write the story down as a treatment, in the couple's own words. We settle on one idea to carry the film. We scout the locations and time them to the light, scene by scene. Then we shoot, and we ask the couple questions inside the scenes rather than sitting them down for an interview. By the time the camera rolls, we already know the story. The film is us getting it down.
The same order every time, from the first call to the last frame.
A long call before anything is planned. We keep the recording; it is where the whole film comes from.
The conversation becomes a treatment, chapter by chapter, in your words. Nothing is filmed until it exists on paper.
A single concept, agreed with you, that holds the film together. A red thread, a road trip, a walk up a hill.
Every scene is placed before the day and timed to its light, from a hanok at dawn to a river at golden hour.
A full day. The questions are asked while you are in the moment, so your real answers run through the film.
