Bea Binene is an actress from the Philippines. She came to Seoul in late October and asked for something simple: the trip, kept. A short solo film through the hanok alleys and the last of the autumn, hers alone. She posted it on her own channel afterwards.

The alleys, first

It starts on the stone-walled lanes, red leaves overhead, visitors drifting past in hanbok. She walks, and the streets do the rest: an old wall, a café with a striped awning, an iced coffee carried back out into the cold. An ordinary afternoon, left as it was.

It ends in a field

The film closes where the day did, in a cosmos field going gold, laughing at whoever was behind the camera. That was us. The photographs and the film come from the same day.

How this was made

Filmed as The Scene.

The Scene is our shortest film: one location, one stretch of the right light. It works solo. For Bea that meant an autumn afternoon in Seoul, a montage cut to music, and a set of photographs made side by side with the film, delivered together.
